- When you pick up your futhark you are immediately struck by just how light and well balanced it is.Most modern detectors have a weight range of 2 to 3 lbs so the futhark has been placed in this range, (the younger at aprox 2lbs and the elder at 2.70lbs) so that when you search you have a good balance in each hand, this will give you good posture and help prevent back trouble. Compare the easy clean Stainless Steel futhark with its Carbon Steel equivalents. Try out the tool as you would a new Cricket or baseball bat! The balancing point and weight will really benefit the enthusiastic detectorist - allowing more sustained use without fatigue. The solid Ash handle of the futhark is harvested from well managed woodland and is stained and oiled to a beautifully antiqued patina, and is carefully finished to be wonderfully smooth and warm to the touch on those winter outings.
