GA Checkpoint Yamaha was founded in 1974, originally as (G.A. Pit Stop) . Gordon Aulenback started a small business selling Yamaha and Husqvarna motorcycles. Our market was primarily off-road and dual sport bikes, and it was not uncommon in those days to shut down the store a little early on Saturday, then load the bikes and drive 5 hours to where ever the next race was.
In the late seventies , Yamaha filled out it's line-up with some very successful street bikes. The "motorcycle boom" during this time allowed us (now renamed G.A. Checkpoint) to grow to a multi-store chain in the Vancouver and Lower Mainland areas of British Columbia, becoming Canada's largest Yamaha dealer at the time.
The eighties brought a decline in the world wide demand for motorcycles so we downsized to one large outlet centrally located in Port Moody, BC.
