Description

Satoru Iwata, with Pokemon Battle Revolution now announced, took the time to reveal the connectivity between the DS and Wii. Using each system's WiFi capabilities, the two systems will connect wirelessly, removing one of the barriers that plagued GameCube and Game Boy Advance connectivity, distracting cables. The DS can act as a touch screen controller or a DS station like the DS kiosks in stores throughout the US and Japan. Iwata also mentioned that the Wii can expand on the content of DS titles.

As for the Wii's Virtual Console, which is a feature of the Wii that allows gamers to buy classic games from Nintendo's Famicom, Super Famicom and N64 systems, as well as Sega's Mega Drive and NEC's PC-Engine, new games may cost between 500 and 1000 Yen aside from the classic titles.

Satoru Iwata mentioned the importance of maintaining a balance of traditional game titles and "non-game" content from the DS Touch Generations series. The brand has also made its debut in North America. Some games in the Touch Generations series have seen very high sales in Japan, such as the Brain games, English Training DS and Dare Demo Asobi Taizen; others have had a modest success, such as the DS Travel series and the Rakubiki Jiten dictionary titles. Nintendo aims to get more of these "non-gamers" to buy traditional content.
