Gary's life path has taken a rough course at times - two broken families, a tragic accident, an arm amputation, alcohol and drug addictions, anger and self destruction, but finally a reawakening and acceptance of his life at over 29,000 feet. We all have faced tragedy that leaves us feeling desolate and alone. If we fail to address these feelings and thoughts, it creates an atmosphere of loneliness and despair. Our heart and spirit cannot grow on this type of foundation, it is impossible. Gary knows this first hand and although he wishes no one to travel down the same path, it is fair to say that we can each find our own analogies with his life that will connect us in this experience.
Human kindness and the true acceptance of others only comes from the acceptance of ourselves. Then, this allows you to be intimate with those people that enter your life - thus doing your part toward a better society, perhaps a better and safer place in the world. If, first and foremost, each of us looks deeper within ourselves, with a true desire to change positively, then we can begin to understand other people, societies and cultures in a more fair and compassionate manner.
