Creative Director/Principal and Motivational Speaker, Frank Sasso, paints the following picture of who Gecko Films is. "Dreams, imagination, and emotion speeding by at 24 frames a second. Truths and lies wrapped up in emotional and visceral responses, images of tragedy and grandeur. Heroes and villains, the common and the unbelievable made real in a two hour story of love won and love lost, of men made and men destroyed, of power and the power to overcome. Few artistic mediums have such influence to invoke emotions and attachment, inspirations and challenges, love and hate. Few artistic medians have touched us like the motion picture. Most of us can think back to films that have touched us in the past, films that have challenged and changed us. Films that have inspired and encouraged us. Films that have purely and simply entertained us. They are the culmination of tens to hundreds of minds formulating a single idea, a single thought, and a single story to be remembered for the ages, and they leave their mark on script, screen, and our souls. It is these films that Gecko Films creates. High quality reflections of our thoughts and dreams, our aspirations and enjoyments. Films that leave their mark on us forever. Whether that is through pure entertainment or relating to the themes and desires, every Gecko Film is designed to leave the audience changed. Every film is presented as a possibility of growth, of challenge, and of inspiration. Gecko Films is not just an independent film production company, but a tool for growth and individual betterment, entertainment and enjoyment. Interwoven in each frame are complex themes and ideas, and, more importantly, questions. Questions about life, about us, and about those around you. Often these are questions of the soul, sometimes deep questions we did know we were asking. All played out in a seamless integration of entertainment and emotion."

Here at Gecko Films, we LOVE who we are and, as a result, we LOVE what we do.

About our Creative Director, Frank Sasso

Gecko's creative director is in charge of the overall visual appearance of each job and how it communicates visually, stimulates moods, contrasts features, and psychologically appeals to a target audience. He makes decisions about visual elements used, what artistic style to use, and when to use raw emotion. One of the challenges creative directors face is translating desired moods, messages, concepts, and underdeveloped ideas into imagery. The creative director is ultimately responsible for solidifying the client's vision of the collective imagination.

A bit about Frank

When I was about 13, my brother John headed out into the backyard with Dad's 8mm camera and started messing around with stop motion. He gave me a basketball and told me to kick it up into the air. So, I did. Then, stopping the camera, he told me to just shoot a basket. As he focused on the hoop, I threw the ball. To my amazement, it went in! John was like, "Ok. Done." I said, "What was THAT all about?" He said, "You'll see." About 6 weeks later, John got this little blue plastic reel in the mail. He put it on my dad's projector and I was amazed at what I saw. It was the footage from that day. I dropped kicked the basketball and in the very next shot the ball went right through the hoop. I was fasinated by film and special effects ever since. 3 years later, Michael Jackson came out with "Thriller". He had American Werewolf in London director John Landis step in to direct the music video. It was truly an incredible piece of work. It really inspired me, so much so that I decided to remake it myself and call it, "Chiller". Not as a spoof or anything, just to remake it. Why? Why not? It was my first undertaking as a director and editor. Not to mention crowd control, best boy, gaffer, oh, I also starred in it. Put vaseoline in my hair and brown make up on my face. That might have been illegal then, but I'm not sure. My brother , John, was my key cameraman on the shoot. To this day, John is the only one I can really trust behind a camera to set up a shot the way I want it.

About 10 years later, I get a job with a company that manufactures television broadcast equiptment. They produced this thing called the Video Desk Designer. No, it wasn't a program that designed entertainment centers that you can pick up at IKEA, it was for television news graphics among other things. Since I was the only person in the world, literally, who knew how to use it, it was my job to manage the product, and travel all over the place training people on how to use it. Anyway, a spot opens up to head up their animation department, so I was blessed enough to grab it. I got to train Disney animators on movies such as "Beauty and the Beast", and "Little Mermaid" using this company's technology. THAT was awesome. (Little known fact: When you go to MGM and the Disney tours, and they bring you over to the "Animator's Dome", I hate to ruin this for you but, THOSE ARE NOT DISNEY ANIMATORS! As a matter of fact, they're NOT EVEN ARTISTS! A story for another time.)
