- My interest in genealogy started with trying to find out what happened to my grandmother Mina Cohen nee Marcus who perished in the Holocaust. I then moved on to finding out more about my family history. The families included are Cohen, Schoonhoed, Marcus, Duis, Silverman and many more. They came from all over Europe, England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Russia and Poland with diverse occupations: inn-keepers, merchants, cigar makers, undertakers, tailors and even an acrobat.
