Description
Excerpted from the website:
- DODONA MANOR
- Mrs. Katherine Marshall purchased Dodona Manor when General Marshall was U.S. Army Chief of Staff. By the time of his death in 1959, Marshall had served as Secretary of State, head of the American Red Cross, Secretary of Defense, special presidential emissary to China, and delivered his now famous Harvard speech outlining the European Recovery Program, forever known as the Marshall Plan. In 2000, the Brookings Institution declared the Marshall Plan the top Federal Government project of the last century. In 1953, Marshall received the Nobel Peace Prize, the only professional soldier so honored.
