It has remained at the cutting edge as new technologies have appeared - Weather forecasting has undergone something of a revolution in the past decade, mainly due to weather satellites and the phenomenal improvements in computer processing power.
In the early 90s, it was sometimes difficult to predict which day a swell would hit Europe. Now, with the aid of satellite data, wave buoy telemetry, high resolution wave modelling and supercomputers, we can now accurately forecast long-distance swells to within a 2 hour time frame.
