Gibraltar was founded in 1981 to produce specialty coatings and inks for the general industrial market. Initial efforts were concentrated on a small number of large accounts. Working under confidentiality agreements Gibraltar created an array of original products which found acceptance in this market. In the nineties Gibraltar began to formulate and produce solvent-borne pigment dispersions intended for merchant sales to all comers, large and small.
