glasshaus: Web Professional to Web Professional
Description
We’re called ‘glasshaus’ in homage to the music of Philip Glass, and as a nod of respect to the German Bauhaus artists, who were equally at home designing buildings, typefaces or furniture, and strove for a union of form and function.
Although most of us have a Web background, we don’t write books ourselves. We commission Web Professionals to write on a particular area of expertise, so that we act as medium for peers to share knowledge with peers. We believe that full-time authors aren’t the best candidates to write on the most up-to-date techniques and tools; only people working with them every day can do that. Can you?
We produce our books in the knowledge that you use tools and technologies in conjunction with each other, as a means to an end. So we don’t produce massive tomes investigating every last nuance of a language; we try to pass on the information in context, with an eye on the task in hand and without wasting your time or insulting your intelligence.
