Ed Van Istendal was graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1972, with a B.S. in General Agriculture. Since then, he has worked with local, regional, and nationwide pest control firms, and has functioned as a pest control technician, termite control technician, fumigation technician, sales representative, sales manager, technical director, and branch manager. He owned his own pest control company in southeastern Pennsylvania, and has been employed as technical director for a Philadelphia area distributor, as well as for two nationwide insurers of this industry. He has also been vice president of sales for a national pest control equipment manufacturer, and a consultant to a national pesticide manufacturer. He resides in Warminster, Bucks County, Pennsylvania with his wife and son.
Ed has authored dozens of articles for industry publications, is a frequent speaker at conferences, seminars, and trade shows, and has served on a variety of state and NPCA committees, including the NPCA WDO Committee, which developed the forms NPCA-1, NPCA-99A and NPCA 99B. He holds certified applicator status in Pennsylvania, is licensed with New York State as a Workplace Safety & Loss Prevention Consultant, is recognized in Texas as a Loss Control Representative, is President - elect of Pi Chi Omega - the national honor fraternity of the pest control industry, is 1st Vice Governor of the PA Pest Management Assn's Eastern Division, and has twice been nominated to Pest Control Magazine's Hall of Fame.
