Gloriana Opera Company Presents

Description

The GLORIANA OPERA COMPANY was founded in 1977 with Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado as its first offering. Twenty-five years, and many stellar productions later, Gloriana reprised The Mikado with the same director (and one of the company's co-founders), Sandra Hawthorne, at the helm.

H.M.S. Pinafore, Iolante, and The Pirates of Penzance were interspersed with the classics of the American Musical stage: Oklahoma!, The Music Man, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, The Little Shop of Horrors, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, Man of La Mancha, Hello Dolly!, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Oliver!, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Annie, Amahl and the Night Visitors, The Fantastiks, and Where's Santa?, among others.

Gloriana community activities have included musical workshops for children and the seasonal serenading of the costumed Gloriana Carolers in vintage dress. The Carolers have raised over $20,000 in scholarships awards granted to talented High School students continuing their education in theatre arts.
