GOLFONLINE is the official Web site of GOLF MAGAZINE, the game's most popular publication, read by 6.5 million golfers each month. In the online world, GOLFONLINE can be considered a veteran player. It flickered across computer screens on January 25, 1996, just in time for the PGA Merchandise Show.
Although computers were a lot bigger, and connection speeds a lot slower, back then, GOLFONLINE was ahead of its time, designed to serve the needs of golfers by offering timely tournament coverage, news, a daily dose of golf history and quotes, and interactive instruction, such as the Private Lessons Profiler. According to GOLFONLINE Vice President and General Manager Julie Hansen, the site launched with the visionary support of former Editor-in-Chief George Peper, who believed at the time that eventually the Web might make printed magazines obsolete.
Happily for our comrades on the print side, this dire prediction has not yet been borne out. However, GOLFONLINE has grown to become an integral part of GOLF MAGAZINE and the number-one destination for golfers on the Web today, with an average of 2.4 million unique users each month. Cited by Forbes Magazine as a perennial "Best of the Web" pick, GOLFONLINE is recognized as the "18-hole site" for our innovative 18-hole navigation.
