- Incorporated in 1921 by the Rev. J. H. Beauchamp at Asbury Methodist Church, Goodwill Industries of Delaware and Delaware County, Inc. is the oldest nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing vocational services in the state of Delaware. Goodwill operated on the philosophy of "Give a hand up, not a hand out." Our original intent was to put people to work – collecting, repairing and reselling clothing and household items. The purpose was, and still is, to discover the productive capabilities inherent in all people.
