Title

Gospel Harvester World Outreach Center

Description

The first service of the Gospel Harvester Chapel was held on May 8, 1962. Church services were held in a storefront building at 2800 Piedmont Road, Atlanta, Georgia. As the church grew and needed more space, Bishop Harry Mushegan bought property on Defoor Avenue in Atlanta. The move to Defoor Avenue entailed more than just building a sanctuary; it included building a congregation to worship in that sanctuary. In 1982, Bishop Harry Mushegan turned this work over to (then) Pastor H. Alan Mushegan, who in 1984, moved the congregation to Marietta, Georgia.

Bishop H. Alan Mushegan was a visionary. He was not happy with the “status quo” or “church as usual.” He reached across the aisle of race, social standing and denominations to bring the body of Christ together. He was not met with great enthusiasm for his vision. He was attacked by most of the local pastors and congregations. One member said, “I thought y'all handled snakes, so I wanted to come and see.” With a background of Pentecostal, Baptist and Church of God, it is no wonder the locals were confused by this “Crazy Armenian.” With much determination and aftre many years, Bishop H. Alan Mushegan has not only bridged the gap in the body of Christ, he has cleared the path for many churches in the area to follow. What now seems “normal” in many ministries, was nothing more than heresy in Marietta, Georgia in 1984.

Gospel Harvester World Outreach Center truly has become a Church of every Nation. With members from every race, religious background and social standing, our church stands as an example of what the body of Christ should be. We are able to come together today without prejudice to worship and praise because of the labor of our Bishops.
