Back in 1999, Marianne Alvarez, moved to the Central California Valley town of Lodi. Looking for some local scrapbookers, Marianne went online and found a group of ladies from the area and started chatting. One scrapbooker, Michelle Gomez, lived close by and Marianne found they both had a lot in common including being stay at home moms. Along with their love of scrapbooking and their families they became fast friends. And that, so they say, is how Gotta Crop history began.
Marianne and Michelle started to host several crops at their homes and at local halls and they were a big hit. They gave everyone goodie bags, prizes and had fun contests, but most importantly gave them an entire day and space to work on their scrapbooks. They thought about how they take the crop a step further and make it a mini vacation for scrapbookers, and what better place then California with the wealth of getaway opportunities it holds. Marianne, previously a Professional Wedding Consultant, knew the ins and outs of working with hotels and planning events. Michelle had a great eye for detail and organization. With the support of their husbands Leo and Freddie, and their children Brandon now 13, Maggie Kate 6, and Carina 8, Gotta Crop was born!
Their first event was held in Lake Tahoe and was a great success. Their events were the first of their kind in California and scrapbookers flocked to them Gotta Crop’s Ultimate Scrapper’s Getaways have been very successful because of the care and attention Marianne & Michelle and their wonderful Crew gives to their guests. They make sure everyone is having a wonderful time and getting the most out of their getaway working on their projects.
