Description

Jesus Christ said, "Behold! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice, and opens the door, I will go in and sup with him, and he with Me" (Revelation 3:20). These words of Jesus fulfill the promise of John's gospel, "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, even to those who believed on His name" (John 1:12.) The essence of becoming a Christian lies not in good works or in emotions, but in your act of faith in receiving Christ as your Savior. "The witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life" (I John 5:11-12.)

In receiving Christ as Savior, you recognize that God did something for you, personally, in Christ, that you desperately need: God provided forgiveness for your sin. "He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin, to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21.) "For Christ also died for sins, once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit" (I Peter 3:18.)

In order to trust what Christ did on the cross you must admit to God that you are a sinner, and believe that when Jesus died on the cross, He paid the penalty for your sins; and that He rose from the grave, proving that He is the Son of God, able to forgive sin and give the gift of salvation and eternal life. This trust in Christ has tremendous implications for your life.
