- Campaign Issues Website of John ("Juan") Xuna, a Candidate to the US Congress (General Election 2002), for Congressional District 22 of Florida. This district is a narrow -but 91 miles long- stretch of coastland that goes from Juno Beach, to Miami Beach. Xuna's opponent is the 10-term veteran incumbent Republican Congressman Clay Shaw (an ex-Mayor of Fort Lauderdale). A run off against Democrat Elaine Bloom is possible. Juan -a Telecommunications Engineer- is an Atheist who immigrated to the USA in 1971. Born in Vigo in 1948 (a city in Galicia, the North Western region of Spain), he moved first to Puerto Rico where he graduated as Electrical Engineer (1974). In 1993 he earned a Master degree in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Juan was a pioneer in the development of applications software for personal workstations, and holds several copyrights in database design. He founded two software entrepreneurships (1979,1992). US Citizen since 1976, he has registered with the Democratic Party. His motto is : "People First, Then the Rest". He married Mona (Morgana) -a Brazilian American Artist (MonaXuna.com)- in 1996, and they have one daughter (Alana [3]). Juan has three sons from a previous marriage (Ryan [27], Jason [22] and Kelvin [21]). In June of 2000 they sold their home-Gallery at the shores of Wall Lake (Hartford, South Dakota) and relocated to Hillsboro, near Deerfield Beach.
