Three generations of the Younkin family are involved in the daily operation of Greenlawn Homes, working in manufactured housing retail centers in Columbus, Lockbourne, Washington Court House, Chillicothe, Marengo and Kenton, Ohio. Family members are also owners and managing partners in twelve land-lease communities, and they are developing a modular sub-division east of Columbus in Baltimore, Ohio.
The family business began in 1947 under the name of Greenlawn Trailer Sales, Inc. The founders of our family business were the late Floyd E. Younkin and his wife, Mary Irene. Mary is still actively involved in the manufactured housing business. Both Floyd and Mary were innovators in our industry.
Floyd is even credited with demonstrating to Redman Homes the then-revolutionary idea that a bath tub could be included in a manufactured home. Floyd and Irene were far ahead of their time in many areas, such as the building of land-lease communities. Thanks to them, our Columbus dealership is one of the oldest manufactured housing retailers in Ohio, and believed to be the oldest continuously operating dealer for Redman Homes. Our Scarlett Manor in Columbus was the first community in Ohio to have natural gas, curbs and sidewalks.
