Our Emphasis is on Prevention
Preventing dental disease is less costly and more rewarding than repairing the damage it produces. Good dental health is the result of good habits, proper nutrition and regular professional care. Periodontal disease is responsible for more tooth loss than all other reasons combined. And, unlike decay, gum disease is not accompanied by symptoms that get your attention (like pain or temperature sensitivity).
By the time gum disease produces pain, it may be quite advanced. We want to detect potential problems before they cause symptoms. Therefore, as part of your adult cleaning appointment, we will perform a free (PSR) Periodontal Screening Record to evaluate the current health of your gums. Teaching you how to prevent periodontal disease is one of our primary goals.
