Richard Greenwood attended the University of North Dakota School of Law where he was a Senior Editor of the Law Review, earned numerous academic awards, and was elected to The Order of the Coif. After graduating first in his class from law school in 1977, he moved to Idaho and was admitted to the bar that same year. Mr. Greenwood is admitted practice before all State and Federal Courts in Idaho and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, and serves on the governing board of the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy section of the Idaho State Bar. He has also been designated a Lead Counsel* by LawInfo, a premiere legal information resource on the Internet for attorneys, legal support services and the public alike.

Mr. Greenwood has practiced in Southern Idaho throughout his career concentrating on litigation, commercial transactions and bankruptcy. In the past he has been a speaker at Idaho Law Foundation seminars, lectured to the Magic Valley Chapter of the Idaho Bankers Association, and taught law related classes at the College of Southern Idaho. He serves as one of the lecturers for the University of Idaho School of Law Advanced Bankruptcy Course. For much of the 1980's he served as City Prosecutor for the City of Kimberly, City of Filer, and City of Buhl, all located in Twin Falls County, Idaho. Mr. Greenwood received the 2004 Sandra Day O'Connor pro bono award from the Idaho State Bar, and is a Member of the 5th District Magistrate Commission.
