Title

GTAmerica Stock Car Racing Series

Description

GT America is acknowledged as one of the country's most exciting and cost-effective automobile racing series. Sharing roots that are based in highly competitive sports car and prototype road racing is GTA's classic stockcar look and style. Combining the rolling thunder of an American stockcar to the twists-and-turns of America's most demanding race tracks is where GT America gets its name, its focus and its pride.

The world's foremost stockcar racing group (NASCAR) was formed in the Southeastern U.S in 1950 and maintains an excellent international following. However, the overwhelming majority of stockcar events are oval track racing events within that same limited geographic region. Although NASCAR-type racing sponsors, fans and television coverage has grown exponentially over the last 10 years, NASCAR's reach into diversified markets and regions has been limited, at best. Meanwhile, over the years, while NASCAR was developing its expertise in the South, road racing has grown to become the largest, most televised and highly sponsored spectator sport in the world. International road racing classes -- such as Formula 1, the 24 Hours of LeMans, the CART Indycar Series, American LeMans and Trans-AM -- have risen in stature to lead road racing's popularity into the 21st Century. Given the tremendous synergy of these two popular variations of the sport -- the 100-year-old history of road racing and the 50 year-old history of NASCAR -- the mix of road racing and stockcars was inevitable. The only question was when and where.

Since its' founding in 1995 as a Northern California club racing experiment, GT America has achieved international recognition for affordable, competitive, action-packed racing. Starting as a West Coast regional series, it has developed into a fulltime, professional racing series sanctioned by N.A.S.A. -- the National Auto Sport Association. With this sanctioning, GT America is growing... with market expansion in the Northwest, Mid-West, Northeast, and even in the Southeast -- NASCAR's backyard. It appears that road racing has just as great a following as oval tracks -- and on an international basis, it's even greater.
