Guitarati's philosophy is - "Music is feeling based, so the best way to get to the right music should also be feeling based". Every musical note evokes an emotion or a mood. And every mood is associated with a color. To find the right music, someone just has to know their mood (or the mood they want to be in) and 'feel' the color it evokes in them. Guitarati offers an interface where finding music of the color, and thus the mood, someone feels attracted to, is just a click away.
Initially, the artists mark the color of their songs while making their songs available at Guitarati. Then onwards, the users can mark a song with a color they 'feel' the song evokes. Thus, the color of the song is what the majority of the listeners feel it is at any point of time.
Guitarati lets the artists/bands and labels decide the price of their music.
Guitarati launched the public beta of its service in the second week of April 2008.
