- Originally established in 1963, Handmaker was created to provide high quality nursing care to those with Jewish heritage. Handmaker's non-profit organization has always provided services to people of all faiths. The Handmaker family provided the initial funding to build the "Tucson Jewish Home", Handmaker's original name. We are proud of our roots and traditions. In keeping with this, our staff orientation includes education regarding our heritage, our Kosher kitchen and our dedication to providing World Class service to all our residents and guests.
