Description
Joan's life as a ceramic artist began in 1969. Since 1995 she has specialized in custom painted ceramic art tiles. So far in 2004 she has completed a custom tile installation for Yoga Mandali Studio and lobster tiles with matching switch plate and outlet covers for a kitchen, both in New York City, where she lives and works.
Her art tiles have been featured in several books, shown in museums and galleries, and purchased for corporate and private collections here and abroad. She has executed custom tile commissions for three veterinary hospitals in New York City, and developed logo tiles for the "al benessere" line of aromatherapy products which debuted in fall 1999 at upscale stores in New York and Los Angeles.
For many years she was a co-owner and president of Brooklyn Artisans Gallery, an artisan owned and operated fine crafts gallery in Brooklyn, until she resigned in 2003 to devote more time to her studio work.
