We were at a charity sports car program, where we take our Corvettes and give special kids rides (Spina Fiva survivors). Gene, one of the most colorful car club members, went over to a child in a wheel chair next to her father. She was very shy and was not in line for a ride. So, Gene got down on one knee, look her in her eyes, and told the little girl that none of the kids wanted to ride with him because his car was black and all the other kids wanted to ride in the red, yellow green, white, and blue cars. Gene told her all the others drivers would make fun of him all year long, so he asked her to do him a favor and ride with him. She said she would. But before they started up, she said that she was worried that her hair would get messed up by the wind, so Gene reached in the back and gave her his favorite "corvette" hat. She smiled.... Gene knew that he just lost his hat, but he got a huge, but worth wild smile in return. Every year since, Gene gives all the kids Corvette hats!
