History
1869 was the year when Henry John Heinz started Heinz in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania in United States. Heinz was 25 years old when you started this company. He started by delivery condiments to local stores. The first few products were horseradish, tomato ketchup and pickles. The initial name of the company was Anchor Pickle and Vinegar Works. Heinz started this company with his partner L.C. Noble. Later when in 1872 E. J. Noble joined it, the name was changed to Heinz, Noble and Company.
The company went bankrupt in 1875. With the help of brother John and cousin Frederick Heinz restarted the business in 1875. They introduced very popular tomato ketchup. The new name was F. & J. Heinz until Heinz bought the control from his brother. "57 Varieties", the famous slogan was started by Henry Heinz in 1892. Another famous slogan is "Beanz Meanz Heinz" which was used extensively.
In 1919 after the death of Henry Heinz, the company was controlled by Howard Heinz. Then H.J. Heinz II took the control in 1941. 1987 Tony O’Reilly succeeded him. William R. Johnson replaced him in 1998.
