About Healing Hands International
In the fall of 1991, a meeting was held in Nashville, TN. This meeting included several men interested in helping meet the mounting needs for medical supplies and equipment in the former Soviet Union and other Eastern European nations. Dr. Randy Steger, business and marketing professor at Lipscomb University of Nashville, TN, presented a proposal to serve as a pilot program that would utilize the energy and abilities of students to contact various medical corporations and individuals to solicit donations of supplies. Through this urgent need for humanitarian relief materials the Lipscomb students organized the beginning of the Healing Hands ministry, which was later incorporated as Healing Hands International in 1994. Since acquiring a 501 (C) (3) status in 1994, HHI has shipped to 66 different countries in need. With a total number of over 300 shipments and an additional branch office in Abilene, TX, it is evident to see God’s hand at work in the ministry.
As the Lord has blessed all the efforts put forth in this program, the ministry has proven to be very successful. The need has been established. The pipeline of resources has been tapped. What was once an idea has become a tool to provide aid to people in struggling situations throughout the world. It has also proven to be an excellent way to give glory and honor to God and bring recognition to the local church.
