Title

Bearfoots, huckleberry jam, big sky carvers, huckleberry candy, huckleberry chocolate

Description

Jeff Flemming, a Montana native, spotted a craftsman carefully using his chainsaw as a carving tool. His curiosity was piqued and he began using his chainsaw to carve all kinds of critters all part of the Big Sky Carvers family. Every bear is carved in rough hewn Western woods, then hand detailed, painted and finished with great care. We take great pride in our bears being solid, natural and lasting wood. hand dipped glass eyes add the final touch of life.

Our porcelain is hand thrown on a potter’s wheel by Kim and individually glazed by Thomas. No two pieces are exactly alike. They are fired over 2300°F, are lead-free and safe for use with all foods. They can be used in an oven, microwave and dishwasher. Few places on earth embrace as much beauty and soul as Montana has to offer. Vast and wild, one can still sense the tempest of nature - land not totally gripped by man. This is the essence we strive for in our pottery and want to share with you. We hope you feel it, too.

Quilting in the Country is located on a century-old farmstead just south of the town of Bozeman, Montana. The quaint shop is housed in the revovated bunkhouse and classes are taught inside the two-story farmhouse, which is home to Jane and Bill Quinn. Jane started Quilting in the Country in 1991, teaching quilt classes with her personal touch in their home. At the time, her "shop", as she jokingly called it, consisted of a cupboard with some basic sewing notions, patterns and books required for the classes. Classes and space soon overflowed, so the Quinns remodeled the bunkhouse and moved Quilting in the Country to its new home.
