Description
A group of people came together in late 1984 around a common vision of a culturally sensitive church with an evangelical message, to bring people into a relationship with Jesus Christ and to help them to grow in Him. We called our first pastor, Ken Moberg, in 1985 and from the start we experienced steady growth in Christian maturity, in numbers and in quality of programs. We built the first phase of the facility in 1994 and added the second phase, which included the multipurpose room and additional classrooms in 1999. In April of 2002 we welcomed our second Senior Pastor Jeffrey Hinds. Highland has always had a strong commitment to teaching its children and adults God’s word. This commitment and God’s will to send many young families has prompted Highland to move forward with a Phase III expansion and the Capital Campaign "His Passion...Our Passion".
The Phase III project relied heavily on volunteer construction workers to help get the project complete. If you are interested in using your hands to serve the Lord, contact Terry Fenwick at 842-5683 for details on different work projects that may be planned. Click on a thumbnail photo below to see the work that took place in 2005 and early 2006 to add Phase III to the building.
Highland is a member of the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA), a denomination of some 1,200 churches across the United States of America, whose heritage goes back to the congregational movement in Scandinavia in the 1800’s. It is called “Evangelical” because of its clear gospel message and its commitment to the authority of Scripture, and it’s called “Free” to denote the autonomy of each local church.
