Hill Ridge Farms is a 55 acre recreational farm located 20 miles north of Raleigh in Youngsville, North Carolina. The farm was founded in 1968 by Youngsville native John Hill. The various attractions on the farm keep it open three seasons a year, and the Conference Center is open year round.
Since its humble beginnings as a pick-your-own produce operation, Hill Ridge Farms has grown and seen many changes, including the addition of the Petting Barn and Fish Feeding Pond, Picnic grounds, Gem Stone Panning, and a Country Store. A Red Barn and Conference Center to accomodate larger group and corporate outings have also been added. And, no local elementary school or summer day camp curriculum is complete these days without at least one field trip to Hill Ridge Farms.
One of the Farm's newest attractions is Big John, a 16-gauge 100 passenger steam engine that is the first of its kind in Franklin County. A Gift Shop has been added to the Country Store, and in 2003 a fresh produce stand, hearkening back to the Farm's original heritage, opened out front where busy commuters can stop on their way home to pick up fresh ingredients for the evening meal.
