Founded by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, the "mother" organization behind these web sites is Saiva Siddhanta Church and its educational media arm, Himalayan Academy.
Saiva Siddhanta Church is a spiritual institution dedicated to protect, preserve and promote the Saivite Hindu religion, to nurturing its own Church missions and membership internationally and to serving, through its publications and web sites, the broader community of Hindus throughout the world. The Church was founded in 1949 by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, a tall, white-haired master, who urges devotees to "Know thy Self" through self-inquiry, meditation, traditional temple worship, scriptural study and selfless service. The name of the Church is from the Sanskrit language and could be roughly rendered in English as "The Church of God Siva's Revealed Truth."
