Description

Excerpted from the website:

Chartered by the City of Aberdeen, Washington in October of 1986 Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority (GHHSA) is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3), Public Development Authority created to construct a Tall Ship Ambassador for Washington State, and to operate that vessel and others from a first class maritime heritage facility in Aberdeen, WA. The Tall Ship Lady Washington (a full scale reproduction of the first American vessel to visit the West Coast of North America, ca. 1788) was launched on schedule in March of 1989. Unfortunately, by the summer of 1990 the organization was in serious financial trouble. A rapid succession of Executive Directors, overly optimistic income projections, and the absence of an incremental development plan connected to a solid organizational vision resulted in a mounting debt load and complete organizational collapse in September of 1990.
