- Hook Mountain Yacht club originally began as a small marina built by James Kizer about 1950. Jim purchased an old lumber and gravel barge that became the platform for a clubhouse and center of activity on the water. The camaraderie between the original members led to the foundation of a cooperative yacht club that exists today as HMYC. This clubhouse is still maintained on the water offering spectacular, unobstructed views of the river activity and also provides a convenient place to duck inclement weather.
