Hollander's is located in the historic Kerrytown Shops in Ann Arbor, Michigan on two floor levels. On the ground floor, owners Tom and Cindy Hollander have designed their store as a retail shop, (now over 5,000 square feet) which is primarily a source for unique decorative papers as well as bookbinding tools and supplies. Their store is one of the largest retail sources of decorative papers in the country, with over 1,200 different papers in stock. In addition, Hollander's is also a major source of b ookbinding tools and supplies including book cloths, leathers, glues, binder 's board, and many other related items.
In the downstairs location, Tom and Cindy have established Hollander's School of Book & Paper Arts. The space contains Hollander's own studio as well as a large space for workshops, a variety bookbinding equipment, and a letterpress printing shop. Workshops regularly taught include those in book arts, bookbinding, box making, letterpress printing, papermaking, marbling, calligraphy, printmaking, and many others. Hollander's also has a permanent Book Art Exhibit with artist's work displayed in a number of showcases. Most work is done by local artists but pieces by artists from other parts of the country are also on display. New works are welcome and added periodically.
