- Hope Baptist Church began in February of 1979 with the arrival of Pastor Sowell and his family to Toledo. The three families which comprised the church desired to see a new Bible-believing work in the Toledo area, and services were held in two of their homes. Efforts were made by the group to saturate the community with Gospel literature and to give information about the new church.
