Description
Glass artists Bill and Charlotte Fretwell have been working together to create art in glass since 1975. Their journey began with stained glass windows, stand-alone glass panels, and magnificent entryways. Over time, their artistry evolved into different types of glass and different processes.
Several years ago, they began creating lampworked beads using a torch to melt and fuse different glasses together. During this period, they made extensive use of milifiores (Thousand Flowers), gold leaf and other materials, resulting in magnificent glass beads. Thus was born Hot Blossoms.
The lampwork creations, which require the finished products to be annealed in a kiln, soon led to fusing glass at temperatures above 1,500 degrees. Most recently, a wide variety of dichroic glasses were introduced, leading to the creations you see today on the Hot Blossoms web site.
