Description
In 2000 Henriette IJzelenberg and Kees Eldering started the internet company Internet Holland. Originally they offered an online shopping guide, but in 2001 they also started offering standard information about hotels in the Netherlands through their website www.hotelsinholland.com using external bookings engines.
In November 2001 they bought the domain hotels.nl and they decided to build their own bookings engine. In December 2001 the website www.hotels.nl was officially launched with just two available hotels: one in Hilversum and one in Amsterdam.
In April 2002 Hotels.nl hired their first staff member and they moved from Kees's home address to a small office in the city centre of Groningen. Later that year Henriette and Kees also bought the run-down website www.hotelnet.nl and gave it a face lift.
