- It started in December 2007. We had been living in Puerto Vallarta for many years working in tourism. The town had become a growing city and we were ready to move on. Some friends asked us to housesit their beachfront home in Todos Santos, Baja Sur. They were going to India and would be gone for 6 months. The house had been for sale for over a year and the prospects did not look good. So we packed up our stuff, quit our jobs and we were excited about living rent-free in the Baja. What would it be like to live without paying rent or a mortgage, something neither one of us had experienced as adults?
