As you may be aware, all credit card issuing banks are statutorily bound under the Stamp Duty Act No. 43 of 1982 (as amended) and Stamp Duty (Special Provisions) Act No. 12 of 2006 to commence charging stamp duty at the rate of " Rs. 10/- for every Rs. 1000/- or part thereof " spent monthly on their credit cards. Stamp duty will not be charged on interest and other levies e.g. Annual fee, Late fee etc
