Kaupthing (KB-Bank) reported yesterday in its 4:30 pm daily bulletin that Fitch Ratings representatives claimed that the Icelandic economy was heading for a "hard landing", and that the Central Bank needed to raise interest further to keep inflation in check.
"There is no need for a military force in Iceland," said admiral Mark Stanhope, the second in command of NATO forces in the US.
Gylfi Zoega, professor of economics at the University of Iceland, says that the government has "not managed the economy sufficiently well" over the past few years in spite of privatisations and increased relative power of the private sector compared to the government.
