ICFO is a young, fast growing research institution that aims at avancing the limits of scientific and technological knowledge in optical sciences. This is our way to contribute to the collective effort of creating wealth in the region and returning to society the privilege that has been granted to us to dedicate our lives to untangling some of nature's mysteries. At ICFO our passion is light.
Light, more exactly laser light, has become a fundamental tool in scientific, technological and economic advances in many areas that go from telecommunications and Internet to the science of life and health care, environmental technologies, and entertainment. At ICFO we push the frontiers of the cores of these areas, such as nanophotonics, biophotonics, or quantum optics.
