Description
The Blue Heron Inn bed and breakfast is the culmination of a 10-year dream of innkeepers, Dave and Claudia Klingler. The love of a beautiful home, the pleasure derived from sharing it with others, and the rewards of cooking lead them to inn keeping careers at the Blue Heron Inn bed and breakfast. Their unique talents; needlework, woodworking, photography, and quilting, are evident throughout the Blue Heron inn.
The Blue Heron Inn property, 3 1/3 acres on the banks of the South Fork of the Snake River and immediately adjacent to Highway 20, was acquired in 1996. The bed and breakfast site had a dilapidated house and outbuildings that were torn down and cleaned up over the course of four years. The Carriage House, home of the innkeepers, was built in 1998 and in June of 1999, the Klinglers permanently moved from their home in Idaho Falls. The main lodge of the Blue Herron Inn was started in October, 1999 and completed in June, 2000.
The main lodge of the Blue Heron Inn bed and breakfast, designed by the owners, has 5100 square feet of living space. The building was designed so it could also be a private home. It contains six bedrooms, each with a private bath. Some bedrooms include fireplaces, jetted tubs, and private balconies and all have large closets. The loft has a sitting area, game table and games, and a library with books on the area and fiction that can be borrowed. The lower floor has a poolroom and a small fitness center. The commercial kitchen enables the innkeepers to cater special events such as business meetings and small receptions.
