Description for IgisTV.com edit

Igi's TV is a multimedia news sharing network, designed by Igi Fischer. It is conceptualized as showcase to demonstrate the magnitude of possibilities realizable via web 2.0. The basic website of Igi's TV Network is a single page that provides solely links to the features and outsourced content of the entire social and third party network of Igi's TV Network. The entire network is composed of free third party services such as content providers, social networks, blogs, micro blogs, online shops and affiliate partners.

Igi's TV Network provides recent news videos (mainly hosted on YouTube) as well as consumer information (a mix of commercial or non commercial content). The news videos are original posts of hand picked press agencies, TV stations and podcasts, who published these videos on their particular YouTube channels. Igi's TV Network utilizes the rss feeds of those YouTube channels and composes via Friendfeed new video streams by organizing these feeds into a set of topics (see Igi's TV Video Streams and Igi's TV Special (Featured Video Stream) below). Igi's TV video streams contain the content of various competing YouTube channels, which allows Igi's TV Network to provide the most recent news videos of practically every leading news and press agency. That implies that whatever recent news videos are "hot", provided by whatever publisher, Igi's TV Network will share the news with its users as one of the first sources on the entire Internet.

Besides seven permanent and one special feature video streams, Igi's TV Network also provides a mixed news promotion channel on Friendfeed, which features a selection of news sources such as Associated Press, Foxsports, TVGuide and others. This promotion channel posts automatically to Igi's TV @Twitter and from there through a complex system of third party services to further mini blogs such as MeMe, Identica, Jaiku (in future to further similar services) and also to the Facebook Fanpage of Igi's TV. The special feature of Igi's TV Network system is, that all news videos can be seen "on page", means in the environment of either Igi's TV @ Friendfeed or on the newsblog of Igi's TV.

Behind the Scenes edit

To make it possible for its users to access any page of the entire network without knowing the particular URL, Igi's TV Network provides a user friendly sub-domain navigation system, which redirects users to the requested page, by just entering "keyword.igistv.com" into the browser text bar. If e.g. a user wants to see sports news he/ she just enters "sports.igistv.com", to visit Igi's TV aStore (@Amazon) he/ she enters "shop.igistv.com" or to visit the Facebook fanpage he/ she enters "facebook.igistv.com" into the browser text bar.

Recently, there are about 25 sub-domains available and it will be more in future.

Besides the possibility to access every outsourced domain of Igi's TV by using this sub-domain navigation system, Igi's TV Network also contains a personalized Google search engine, in which all these sub-domains are registered to be displayed in its search results.

Igi's TV Network gives every user the option to utilize Igi's TV in his/ her preferred environment (third party websites, desktop applications, etc.), just like a franchise which has its outlet in every mall. To realize this, a certain optical style is used which adapts like a chameleon to the graphical structure of most third party services.

Showcase Concept edit

As explained in Description above, Igi's TV is a showcase at the first place. The conceptual formulation was to...
a) ... design an automatic system to distribute recent news videos of an unlimited amount of providers including the possibility to imply advertisement,
b) ... be able to run an unlimited amount of unique video streams of topics,
c) ... use if possible free applications and servers,
d) ... be able to distribute the video streams automatically to any social network and mini blog,
e) ... use mainly third party content,
f) ... be able to manage every task without the support of staff,
g) ... be able to run the system with a minimum of monthly costs for technical requirements,
h) ... be able to set the system up in just a few days,
i) ... realize the project without any economical input,
j) ... have a search engine optimized system,
k) ... make it easy for the users to find every page of a network (e.g. Igi's TV Network) without knowing the specific URL,
l) ... imply a system in which users can support users,
m) ... have a graphical concept that convey the impression that the user stays permanently on one website, while browsing through a network of a (theoretically) unlimited amount of domains.

Showcase Data edit

Excluding the time to develop the idea and do the research to find the essential tools and services, it took about 30-40 hours to set up Igi's TV Network. The equipment that was used to do the web and graphic design is available for about $1.000 (there might be free open source solutions) and the monthly costs for running the system are about $60 and require 1-2 working hours per day, when including advertisement. There might be further costs for eventual promotion via search engine marketing or social network ads.

Language edit

The videos shared by Igi's TV Network are mainly in English, however, some might be also in French, Spanish, German or other languages.

How did we find these keywords? Like search engines, we analyzed how often specific words occur on this page, where they are located and whether they are emphasized in some way. The words used most frequently and prominently are judged to be the keywords. If these detected keywords are the same words that accurately reflect the purpose of this page, they are well chosen.

Meta Keywords

The meta keywords tag is not used by search engines to determine what the page is about -- but it is still important. When you place a web page's important keywords in a meta keywords tag, you communicate to anyone who works with the page that these words matter. That can prevent a new designer or webmaster from deleting or moving these carefully researched and placed keywords.

Title

Igi's TV Network: Video streams, social media network, shop, support - 24/7 updated - http://igistv.com”

  • Good : This page has a title tag. The title tag is the most important text that search engines use to determine what a web page is about.
  • Problem : The title tag is too long. Keep a title to 70 characters or less, including spaces.

Why does the title matter?

Why does the title matter?

The title appears as a clickable link in search results. A descriptive, compelling title with relevant keywords can significantly increase visits to a website.

Search engines consider the text of the title tag to be a strong indication of what the page is about. Accurate keywords in the title tag can help a page rank better.

Meta Description

Navigate across Igi's TV Network: Seven video streams at Friendfeed; newsblog, online shop, support and social media network (Twitter, Facebook, Aardvark, Meme, Identi.ca, Jaiku and others) - IgisTV

  • Warning : Your meta description is longer than 150 characters. Search engines will display about 150 characters of description in search results, below the title. The first 150 characters of the meta description should contain the most important keywords for that web page.

Why does the meta description matter?

Why does the meta description matter?

The meta description tells both search engines and searchers what a web page is about. It is often displayed below the title in a search result, and helps people decide if they want to visit that website.

The meta description should include keywords that a site's potential customers are using to search, and that accurately reflect what they will find on the web page. Mention location when relevant.

Search engines will generally index 200 to 250 characters. But they may display a smaller portion. It's good to limit the meta description to no more than 150 characters, including spaces.

H1 Headings

This site has 0 H1 headings.

  • Problem : The home page for this website should have an H1 heading. Search engines look for this tag to determine what a page is about, and H1 headings are also useful for people.

Why do the H1 headings matter?

Why do the H1 headings matter?

The H1 heading is an important sentence or phrase on a web page that quickly, clearly and concisely outlines what people and search engines can expect to find there.

Just as a book has one title, search experts recommend a single H1 heading for each page, including the home page.

The H1 heading appears in the web page's content itself, unlike the page title, which people will see mostly in search results.

The H1 tag is usually listed first among the other heading tags for a page. However, none of the major search engines will penalize a site for listing H2 through H6 tags ahead of the H1 tag.

Writing an H1 heading that's different from the title can be useful. Each can target different keywords that are important to a web page.

First 250 Words

The keywords we detected appear 37 times in the home page's top 250 words.

Why do the first 250 words matter?

Why do the first 250 words matter?

The first 250 words of web page copy are the most important. They tell both people and search engines what the page is about.

The top two to three keywords should appear about five times each in the first 250 words of web page copy, and two to three times each for every additional 250 words on the page.

Web copy should be written for human visitors first, and search engines second. Synonyms, plurals and correct tenses for keywords should be used as appropriate. Contrary to popular myth, search engines will notice these slight variations as instances of keywords.
