We (Julie and Don Ulmer) started In-Weave in 1990 with a single loom in a small building in Hawarden, Iowa. We produced hand-woven 13" to 28" wide rugs which we exhibited at art and craft shows around the country.
Our first rugs were traditional "rag rugs" made from new materials with heat-set warp. They were tightly beaten with even selveges, washable, and extremely durable due to the heat set warp and tight beating.
Word of our high quality rugs spread quickly. The demand for our rugs in a greater variety of sizes led to the expansion of In-Weave. We presently have 9 looms, allowing for production of rugs ranging in widths from 13" wide rugs to 8' wide area rugs. Don built and designed the 4', 6' and 8' wide looms.
