Thank you for logging on to Independent Catholic News. ICN is the first daily Catholic on-line news service in the UK. This site is run by Catholic journalists based in London, England. There are also more than twenty regular contributors around the world.*

We set up on a voluntary basis in May 2000 in response to Tertio Millennio Adveniente, which called for lay people to play a more active role in the work of the Church. As journalists, we felt this project was one way we could make a contribution. Our aim is to provide speedy and accurate news coverage of all subjects of interest to Catholics and the wider Christian community. We also have a Saint of the Day, Sunday Reflection, Listings Section, Classified Ads, Archives and Links pages.

We are keeping the design as simple as possible so that the site can be accessed by people using older computers - many of our readers live in the developing world and don't have the latest technology.
