- Beginner is a chat channel located on the Undernet group of servers. To many of us, we also call it home. Our primary purpose is to welcome folks from all over the world to Internet Relay Chat, or IRC. Our goals include teaching our visitors how to use their IRC clients , and to remove some of the mystery of talking through our computers with folks thousands of miles away. Along the way, we enjoy the privilege of making new friends from all around the world.
January 1995, #Beginner first came into existence when a fellow by the name of Unicus started the channel and became the very first Channel Manager.
August 18, 1995, the #Beginner channel became an officially recognized and registered channel of the Undernet. At this time, we underwent an important transformation when we received a W bot provided by #CService. (A W(or X) bot is basically a program which helps the Ops of a registered channel manage their responsibilities.)
