To that end, we design and develop all of the clothing you see on these pages - our fabrics and prints are one-of-a-kind, our silhouettes are unique - to offer you a collection you can't find anywhere else.
At a time in history when women's lives revolved around home and hearth, Isabella Bird reinvented herself, leaving her native Yorkshire behind for an independent life of travel. She dared to venture into remote areas where even the bravest of men were reluctant to tread - including the American West, Malaysia, Tibet, Kurdistan, Persia, the Korean peninsula, the Moroccan desert and China. She documented her journeys in numerous letters, photographs and books, providing enduring inspiration for a life lived outside boundaries. She re-defined the standards for the women of her time and, like a rock star, her arrival was eagerly anticipated for the culture and company she brought to some of the more isolated parts of the world. As a writer, photographer, botanist, nurse and vocal advocate for education of the poor, Isabella wandered the world for almost 40 years and became the most published travel writer of the 19th century. Her trailblazing courage, vision and independent spirit continues to inspire us.
We chose Lorraine for her creative approach to building community between women artists worldwide with her book Women Beyond Borders, The Art of Building Community.
