Description
IFID registered in the UK in 1994, is a non-profit organization based in London - England. It is an established, independent and credible voice calling for a modern, moderate and enlightened understanding of Islam. IFID believes that the enlightened Islamists have the potential of becoming a stabilizing and constructive force in developing public institutions, modernizing Muslim societies and playing their full role in world peace. The key to a better future and stable development of Muslim nations lies in developing modern interpretations of Islam, i.e. Muslim thought and attitude, which are compatible with the contemporary world.
The founder and first executive director of IFID was Dr. Laith Kubba, who served from 1994-1998. Dr. Mansoor Al-Jamri served as the executive director from 1999-2001.
