- The Conscious Community Campaign is an outgrowth of the Conscious Community and Business Network begun in May 2003. The intention of the original network was to find ways to create a stronger community by increasing the connections between people. The first project was to increase awareness of the value of locally-owned and independent businesses. A web site www.ccbnreno.org, with an online directory, and then a physical, Hometown Directory was published in 2005 to make it easier for residents to "Think Local" first.
